Matthew Clarke’s testimonial season has included various successful events to date but it has always been his wish to bring an event ‘home’ to Co. Tyrone. Matthew has always had a strong connection with Killen Rangers FC having played for their youth team as a teenager before moving to Rangers and is currently manager of the Under 17s.
On St Patricks day, a Killen Rangers XI played Linfield Legends at The Village Ground , Killen. Although only a friendly, the large crowd enjoyed a fiercely contested match with Killen the eventual 3-2 winners, thanks to a fantastic goal from ex Portadown legend Richard Clarke.
Matthew and his testimonial committee would like to say a massive thank you to all who helped make the entire day such a success.
Many thanks to Michael Gault and the Linfield Legends and to Killen Rangers XI. Thanks to Gary Hull for refereeing and to WJM Building Services Ltd for sponsoring the match. Well done to the Linfield fans who made the four hour round trip and thanks to The Derg Arms, Castlederg for hosting the post match activities.
Finally a word of appreciation to Killen Rangers FC for being such welcoming hosts. Killen Rangers FC means so much to Matthew and to show his appreciation, Matthew presented his recent League Cup winners shirt, (professionally framed by Glenwood Frames), to club officials.
A successful and enjoyable day was had by all.
