Linfield Swifts are safely through to the next round of the McCombs Travel Intermediate Cup after a penalty shootout win against a much older Lurgan Town side.

The Swifts were missing a lot of key players due to first-team selection for David Healy's side at Seaview as the mens first team took on Crusaders, but the young Swifts players stood up to the Mid-Ulster side with an own-goal putting the Blues ahead at the break.

A late Lurgan Town equaliser in the 94th minute would send the game to extra time, with the match having to be decided on penalties.

Goalkeeper Jack Wilkins was the hero today at Midgley Park saving two penalties while Harry Allen, younger brother of first team player Charlie Allen, scored the winning penalty.

Well done to Michael Gault and his side!
