Lifelong Linfield supporter Charlie Matier passed away in Cairnmartin Nursing Home in the early hours of Sunday 13th October after a long illness. Charlie was a steward at the club for many years. He will be sorely missed by his four daughters, his grandchildren and great grandchildren and the wider family circle as a whole.

Charlie was a popular character at matches and took his place at Windsor between the two dugouts at every game. He has not been able to attend for the last few years due to his illness but often asked about his beloved Blues and any mention of Linfield brought a smile to has face.

In January of this year, Linfield board member Stephen Shaw kindly arranged for club legends Eric Bowyer and Alan Frazer to visit Charlie at the Cairnmartin home, bringing the League Cup trophy with them.

No more suffering Charlie and you’re now back with your beloved Kate.
