Linfield FC are delighted to announce the signing of 23-year-old Scottish forward Matt Yates on a one-year contract, subject to international clearance.
Yates, who can play as a central striker, came through the Rangers Academy, where he was part of the same youth team as Ross McCausland and Chris McKee. He also spent time developing at Hibernian during his formative years.
In his senior career, Yates has amassed significant experience in the Scottish leagues, making 117 appearances in League Two and 35 appearances in League One, representing both Stranraer and Stenhousemuir.
Linfield manager David Healy welcomed the addition, saying:
“Matt is a talented forward with proven experience in senior football at such a young age. He’s a natural goalscorer with the intelligence to link play and has shown the hunger to improve further. We believe he’ll be a strong addition to our attacking options this season.”
Welcome to the Blues, Matt!
