Press Release from NIFL:
“The Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) is proud to announce a donation of £6,761.35 to Action Mental Health, raised through proceeds from August’s Charity Shield Final between Linfield and Dungannon Swifts.
This year’s thrilling contest at Windsor Park saw Dungannon Swifts lift the first silverware of the season after triumphing on penalties following an exciting match that ended level in normal time.
All gate receipts and associated proceeds from the annual curtain raiser were donated in full to Action Mental Health, supporting the charity’s ongoing work to improve mental well-being and resilience across Northern Ireland.
Regan McFarland, NIFL Sales and Marketing Manager, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to make this presentation to Action Mental Health on behalf of everyone in the NI Football League and our member clubs. The Charity Shield is about more than just football; it is about giving back to our communities and supporting causes that make a real difference.
“We would like to thank both Linfield and Dungannon Swifts, as well as the fans who came out to support the match, for helping us raise this fantastic total.”
The partnership between the NI Football League and Action Mental Health continues to highlight the positive role football can play in promoting mental health awareness and community wellbeing.”
