Linfield head towards the border for midweek cup action with PLAYR-FIT Premier Intermediate side Newry City at The Showgrounds in the quarter final stage of the BetMcLean Cup (7.45pm k.o. tickets and cash gate available).

Newry City have enjoyed an impressive run in this season’s BetMcLean Cup, despatching Knockbreda, Portadown and Glenavon from the competition. Under manager Stuart King, the border club are also pushing hard for promotion to the PLAYR-FIT Championship. 

Linfield moved up to 3rd spot in the Sports Direct Premiership table at the weekend after a hard fought 3-1 win over Carrick Rangers at Windsor Park. In another hectic week which sees The Blues play 3 games in 6 days, David Healy may shuffle his pack for the visit to The Showgrounds. Opportunity may knock for some players in the squad to impress the Linfield manager who will not want to fall victim of another cup upset.
