NEXT MATCH: LINFIELD V COLERAINE
📅 SAT 18TH APR ⌚ 3PM 📍 WINDSOR PARK

Linfield FC Academy’s U14 side embarked on an unforgettable trip to Scotland on Friday 10th April 2026, taking part in two highly competitive friendly fixtures against Scottish Premiership opposition while also enjoying a weekend full of team bonding and memorable experiences.

The squad began their journey with an early start, travelling from Larne on the 8am P&O ferry. Spirits were high as the group made the crossing before continuing by minibus to the scenic Westerwood Hotel just outside Glasgow, where they would be based for the duration of the trip.

After settling in, the players headed to Paisley for their first fixture against St Mirren FC U14s. Played over three 30-minute periods on a 4G surface, the match proved to be a competitive and entertaining encounter. St Mirren started brightly and took a 1-0 lead in the opening period.

Linfield responded superbly in the second period, producing some excellent football. Sam DeLargy struck twice, while Lucas Moore also found the net to give the Blues a deserved 3-1 advantage. Fatigue began to show after a long day of travel, however, and St Mirren battled back strongly to level the match at 3-3. Despite the result, it was a performance full of quality and determination that the players could be proud of.

Saturday provided a different kind of experience as the squad enjoyed a recovery session in the hotel pool before attending a Scottish Premiership fixture at Kilmarnock FC, where they watched the home side take on Dundee FC. The match ended 2-2, with the Linfield players fully embracing the occasion—purchasing club merchandise, joining in with the atmosphere, and soaking up the matchday experience.

That evening, the team returned to the hotel for dinner and some well-earned downtime, including a pool competition. The group also tuned in to watch Rory McIlroy secure his second Green Jacket at the 2026 Masters, with congratulations shared from everyone involved with the Linfield U14 squad.

Sunday saw the tour conclude with a visit to the training centre of Rangers FC for a final fixture. The Linfield boys started with energy and intent, taking control of the game early on. Lucas Moore’s clinical finishing saw him score twice to give Linfield a 2-0 lead, before Rangers pulled one back just before the end of the first period.

Linfield continued to impress in the second period, maintaining their composure and playing attractive, flowing football. Corey Roulston added a third goal with a composed finish at the back post, giving Linfield a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

Rangers responded strongly, levelling the game at 3-3 through a penalty and a well-taken header. Showing great resilience and determination, the Linfield players pushed forward in the closing stages. Their persistence paid off when Oliver Prenter found the bottom corner with a well-taken finish to restore the lead at 4-3.

A disciplined defensive effort in the final minutes ensured Linfield held on for an impressive victory against top-class opposition. The final whistle sparked celebrations that highlighted the team’s unity, spirit, and togetherness throughout the weekend.

The trip proved to be a tremendous success both on and off the pitch, providing invaluable experience, enjoyment, and lasting memories for all involved.

Linfield FC would like to extend sincere thanks to St Mirren FC, Rangers FC, and the Westerwood Hotel for their exceptional hospitality and for helping make the tour such a special occasion for the Academy players.
