Linfield hit the road for Match 27 of the Sports Direct Premiership, travelling to face Ballymena United at The Showgrounds (7.45pm k.o. all ticket). There is full live coverage of the game on the BBC iPlayer. The teams have met twice this season with Linfield winning both home and away by the same 2-0 score line.

After a strong start to the season Ballymena have endured a bit of a roller coaster run in form which has seen them slip down into 8th place in the table. In their last outing The Sky Blues were edged out 2-1 by Larne at Inver Park. Manager Jim Ervin will now focus on securing a top six finish and has been busy in the January transfer window signing 6 players, including experienced Derry City midfielder Patrick McEleney.

Linfield's run of 3 games in 6 days ended in disappointment when they exited the Irish Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Glentoran in an incident-laden game at the BetMcLean Oval. It proved to be a bridge too far for The Blues after they valiantly took the tie right to the wire in extra time whilst reduced to 10 men.

Linfield will be heading to The Showgrounds determined to keep their foot on the gas as they look to extend their 19 point lead at the top the table. Cheering on The Blues as their 12th man will be the customary large contingent of travelling supporters.
