Linfield would like to congratulate 17-year-old Calum Moreland on signing a professional contract with Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Calum joined the Linfield Academy at 9 years old and under the guidance of Darren Devlin and Gareth Dempster has developed into a fantastic player having impressed for the Villa Under-18 team this season.
Calum spent 7 years in the Linfield Academy before moving over to Aston Villa in the summer on an initial two year scholarship programme and is a Northern Ireland Under 17 International.
Head of Academy Glenn Ferguson commented:
“Calum Moreland had been with the Linfield academy since he was 9 years of age and has developed into a top player. A huge amount of credit goes to Darren Devlin and Gareth Dempster who both played a massive part in Calum’s development both as a player and as a young man. Calum is very quiet and unassuming lad and just went about his business wanting to learn and develop as a player. Having known Calum myself now for a number of years and seeing the hard work that he has put in it is fantastic to see another Linfield Academy player sign a full time professional contract.”
