Linfield are in midweek Sports Direct Premiership action on the road to face Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena (7.45pm k.o. with online tickets and cash gate available). The teams met at Windsor Park in November with Linfield winning 3-1.

It has been a challenging season for Carrick who sit 11th in the League table above only Glenavon in the relegation zone. Manager Stephen Baxter has assembled an experienced squad which includes recent signing Matthew Olosunde who has a CV including spells at Rotherham, The New Saints and Preston North End. In their last outing Rangers enjoyed a 5-1 home win over Queen’s University in the Clearer Water Irish Cup.

Linfield also made enjoyed an Irish Cup home win, beating Bangor 1-0 to set up a  6th Round tie with Limavady United at The Coleraine Showgrounds. The Blues will look to get back into the title race in difficult back-to-back games against Carrick Rangers and Larne this week – with points at a premium, David Healy’s men will be determined to do just that.
