Linfield can confirm the signing of Aodhan Doherty as a full time professional until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Aohan graduates from Linfield’s Academy, having travelled to Albania and Poland with our First Team during the European campaign in July.
Despite garnering significant interest from other Irish league clubs, the 17 year old has put pen to paper, ensuring that he will continue to develop under the close eye and tutelage of David Healy and his coaching staff.
David Healy, First Team Manager was delighted with the signing,
“Aodhan has trained with us regularly whilst being part of our Academy scholarship programme. I have been impressed with how well he has adapted, and has shown a clear willingness to learn.
I have no doubt that he can improve as we assimilate him into the squad, ensuring he has a controlled level of game time between the first team and the Swifts.
We have shown with players such as Trai Hume and Paul Smyth that there is a clear pathway, even when you don’t go across the water at 16.
It’s now up to "Doc" to take his chance.”
Aodhan Doherty outlined his delight at signing his first pro contract,
“I am buzzing to put pen to paper and sign as a full time professional at Linfield.
Since joining, my family and I have been looked after, and I’ve no doubt I wouldn’t be where I am, without the close attention and guidance I’ve been given at Linfield.
Although there was interest from other clubs, I didn’t think twice when David Healy and Willie McKeown approached my family about confirming my long term future at Linfield.
This is the club for me, and I want to repay the Manager for the faith he has shown in me, by developing further under his watchful eye.”
