Linfield Chairman Roy McGivern leads the tributes to Michael:

“We were all deeply saddened to hear the news this morning that our dear friend and Club Member, Michael Hamilton, had lost his long battle with cancer.

Michael fought courageously against this terrible disease and his bravery should be an inspiration to us all. He had such amazing passion for Linfield Football Club and I’m so pleased that he was there to witness League title Number 57 and the return of The Gibson Cup to Windsor Park in April.

While we will all miss him dearly, we send our deepest condolences to his friends and colleagues in the  Belmont LSC and, in particular, to his wife Julie and his loving family.

Linfield Director Jonathan Lamont also said:

“Michael was a great lad and he put up such a fight with his illness. He was an inspiration to us all. In addition to our football connections, I would have bumped into Michael through our work, and we often joked about us being two Bluemen in some unlikely settings.

His speech at this year’s AGM moved us all and my heart goes out to his wife Julie and the family. Not forgetting his good friend Jim Watson and all at Belmont LSC where Michael was their long serving Chairman”.
