Inspirational Linfield captain Jamie Mulgrew scored his 50th career goal for the club in Thursday’s UEFA Conference League second round, second leg tie against Pogon Szczecin in Poland.
Jamie would have reached the landmark goal a year earlier after his Goal of the Season strike against TNS, only for the fact that another wonder goal he scored – against Cliftonville on August 16, 2008 was erased from the records when the game was abandoned after half an hour, due to atrocious and freak weather conditions.
Jamie scored the landmark career goal in Poland in his 58th game for the club in European club competition, with the experienced midfielder proudly sitting at the top of the leader board of the club’s all time leading appearance makers in European club competition.
37-year-old Jamie is second in Linfield's all-time list of appearance makers, with only the legendary Noel Bailie MBE ahead of him on a surely uncatchable total of 1013 appearances.
At the end of the season before last, Jamie was awarded the prestigious Torrans Trophy award, placing him among the legends of the club in the all time Hall of Fame.
Popular Jamie, whose signing for the club over 18 years ago was recommended by current recruitment and development manager Willie McKeown, made his Linfield debut as a late sub in a 2-0 home win against Loughgall on August 20, 2005 and his full playing record is as follows.
