Linfield Football Club has been delighted with the extremely positive response to the recent home and away kit launches. The new kits for the 2024/25 season included reference to ‘Weavers to Winners’ in the design to reflect the club’s proud origins in the Linfield Mill in Sandy Row.
At the time of the kit design, those involved were unaware that the intellectual property rights to the ‘Weavers to Winners’ name were apparently held by Ivan Little and Stephen McCoubrey who produced an independent video of the same name for the club.
The club has apologised to Ivan and Stephen for using the name of their production without due permission and acknowledgement. The original video was a ground-breaking and highly professional production about the history of the club and was rightly applauded at the time by everyone associated with Linfield FC.
The producers stated “We regret that Linfield didn’t handle things differently and seek clearance to use the name, but we have accepted the apology.
When we made the video, we put on record our thanks for the co-operation we received from the Linfield Board at the time, led by the then Chairman Mr Billy McCoubrey.
We wish Linfield FC every success with the sale of the new kit.”
