The 1st round of games in the top 6 split sees champions Linfield entertain Crusaders at Windsor Park (7.45pm k.o. all-ticket). The teams met earlier this month at Seaview with Linfield winning 2-0.

Crusaders sit 5th in the table and remain in the mix for the runners-up spot and the much-coveted automatic European qualification slot that goes with it. In their last outing the Shore Road outfit impressed in a 1-0 win over Glentoran at The Oval. Manager Declan Caddell will look towards experienced players like Philip Lowry and Robbie Weir to ensure the Crues push on in what are effectively 5 ‘cup finals’.

There was a real party atmosphere among the large travelling contingent of Linfield supporters who packed out Stangmore Park to cheer on the newly crowned champions to a 3-0 win over hosts Dungannon Swifts. David Healy will be determined to see The Blues finish off strongly as preparations begin for next season’s domestic and European campaigns.

Hopefully The Blues can finish the season with a real flourish as they welcome The Gibson Cup back to Windsor Park.
