BOXING DAY DERBY: LINFIELD V GLENTORAN

Linfield make a quick return to action on home turf as another Sports Direct Premiership game unfolds against visitors Crusaders at Windsor Park (7.45pm k.o. all-ticket).

Crusaders have made an inconsistent start to the season and are placed 8th in the Premiership standings. In their last outing they put 3 points on the board with a 2-0 win at basement club Glenavon.

Manager Declan Caddell has assembled a youthful squad. casting his recruitment net across the Irish Sea to sign no fewer than 6 players from the Scotland. Former Ayr United striker Fraser Bryden has hit the ground running at Seaview, scoring 6 goals in 8 games, the first arriving just 2 minutes into his debut against Carrick Rangers on the opening day of the season! There is plenty of pace and creativity up front although the loss of experienced defenders Billy Joe Burns, Daniel Larmour and Jimmy Callagher been felt at the back.

David Healy was delighted to see a much changed starting XI defeat Queen’s University 2-0  in mid-week and The Blues will now look to build up some momentum as the Premiership table starts to take shape. A much tighter title race than last season is promised.
