Linfield are in Clearer Water Irish Cup action when welcoming Premier Intermediate League side Warrenpoint Town to Windsor Park in the 5th Round of the competition (3pm k.o. all-ticket). Last season the teams lined up at Windsor Park at the same stage with Linfield enjoying a 3-0 win.

Warrenpoint have had a successful season so far, sitting 4th in their league but just 1 point off top spot. This week they were, however, left reeling from the shock news of manager Barry Gray's resignation. John Gill has been appointed as interim manager until the end of the season.

Linfield stretched their lead at the top of the Sports Direct Premiership to 4 points with a hard fought 1-0 win at Crusaders. The only goal of the game arrived shortly before the interval through Euan East, and the talented Scottish defender is proving to be one of the best signings of the season. This was a thoroughly professional performance from The Blues who were playing their fourth game in 12 days over a hectic festive period.

Warrenpoint come to Windsor with everything to gain and nothing to lose, and manager David Healy will be keen to guard against any complacency as his side look to sidestep this potential banana skin.

Hopefully it will be Linfield who go forward into the hat for the 6th Round draw.
