In an impressive display, Linfield F.C. Women commenced their League journey in breathtaking fashion, securing a resounding 7-0 triumph on Lisburn Ladies’ turf at the Bluebell Stadium.

The first half unfolded with a hint of inertia, as both sides struggled to ignite the scoreboard, leaving goalkeepers with little to sweat over. However, amidst the tepid exchanges, it was Linfield’s Cora Chambers who broke the deadlock, notching her first Premiership League goal under the banner of Ryan Mcconville’s contingent. A minute’s silence was held at the start of the match in memory of Cora’s Granny who has passed away the night before.

As the whistle heralded the commencement of the second half, a totally different display followed, with Linfield emerging as the undisputed dominant side. Cora Chambers stole the limelight with a remarkable hat trick just hours after learning of her Granny’s passing, while Eve Reilly and Bernie Ferreira each claimed a brace.

With the perfect inauguration in the League, Linfield F.C. Women move on with heads held high, primed for yet another showdown with Lisburn Ladies. Next Friday promises another exciting game, this time at Midgley Park in the Avenir All Island Cup. However, before that encounter we will travel to Greenisland FC in the County Antrim Cup on Monday night.
