Linfield enjoy home advantage for a third consecutive game when Dungannon Swifts are the visitors to Windsor Park (3pm k.o. all-ticket). This season The Blues have won all of the 3 previous league games between the teams.
The Swifts have enjoyed a successful campaign under the leadership of Manager Rodney McAree and sit 5th in the Premiership table with the Clearer Water Irish Cup Final against Cliftonville to look forward to in May. However, in their last outing their quest for automatic European qualification took a knock when they were edged out 3-2 by Coleraine at The Showgrounds
There was an afternoon to remember for the large numbers of Linfield supporters inside a sun kissed Windsor Park as the newly crowned champions defeated Glentoran 2-1 in the final ‘Big Two’ clash of the season. Shortly after the final whistle the party really started both off and on the pitch as Linfield’s inspirational captain, Jamie Mulgrew, lifted The Gibson Cup under a salvo of flying champagne corks as players, staff and supporters celebrated an incredible 57th league title in the long history of the club. The Gibson Cup trophy has finally returned home!
David Healy’s men will be determined to keep celebrating their success in style on the pitch in the remaining fixtures. With all of our opponents in the hunt for European places the Linfield players can expect some competitive games over the next few weeks.
