The left-footed central defender from Manchester is in his second spell with Linfield. His football education started at the Rochdale Centre of Excellence where he played Academy football. A couple of years later Sam signed for Blackpool where he played for the U18s before moving to Scotland to sign for Aberdeen in 2016. Roscoe played for Aberdeen’s U20 team for a couple of years before going on loan to Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Championship for the 2018/19 season, making 23 appearances. The following season, following his exit from Aberdeen, Roscoe signed for SPFL Championship side Ayr United on a two-year deal. Whilst at Ayr, Roscoe made 35 appearances, and scored his first senior goal which came in a 1-1 draw against Wrexham in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
Linfield manager David Healy swooped to signed Roscoe when his contract at Ayr United was coming to an end in June 2021. The big central defender arrived at Windsor Park on a two-year deal. He made his debut as a substitute in a 4-0 home win over Bosnian side Borac Banja Luka in the UEFA Conference League on 22 July, 2021, and he scored his first Linfield goal in a 2-1 defeat to Fola Esch of Luxembourg in the same competition a few weeks later. Roscoe was arriving at Linfield at a time when central defensive stalwarts Mark Haughey and Mark Stafford were moving on as the club moved to a full-time professional model and he made 28 appearances in his first season, scoring twice and helping the Blues win the Irish League title.
In his second season, no Linfield player made more appearances than Roscoe (56) – a season in which he lifted the NIFL League Cup, as well as narrowly missing out on the group stages of the UEFA Conference League by way of a penalty shoot-out. However, Roscoe opted to leave Linfield at the end of the 2022/23 season to take up an offer from his boyhood club Altrincham in the National League in England. Due to the form of Altrincham’s central defenders in the 2023/24 season, Roscoe was limited to 22 appearances and he took up the option to return to Linfield in May 2024 for a second spell with the Blues.
