A very special welcome was extended to Tuesday’s game between Linfield and Cliftonville at Windsor Park to inspirational young Dáithí Mac Gabhann and his family.

The considerable efforts of Dáithí, his family, friends and campaigners brought about a change in the law in Northern Ireland earlier this year.

Since 1 June 2023, all adults in Northern Ireland are now considered potential organ donors, unless they choose to opt out or are in an excluded group.

Dáithí received a hero’s welcome onto the Windsor Park pitch from supporters of both Linfield and Cliftonville, prior to the Premiership derby game.

Everyone at Linfield FC congratulates Dáithí and his family on the success of their campaign to bring about a change in the law and best wishes are extended to Dáithí for the future.

Dáithí received a Linfield ball from the Linfield vice chairman Stephen Dickson and also in the photos below are another Linfield director Ronnie Morrison, as well as Joel Cooper.
